Pupil Terms & Conditions

  1. You are required to be in possession of a current valid provisional driving licence to which is to be shown to the instructor at the start of your first lesson. It is your responsibility to inform your instructor of any official changes to that document.
  2. You will be required to pay in full for any lesson or test appointment that you cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice. The instructor reserves the right to cancel any lesson without notice.
  3. Any block lessons must be paid in full before the 1st lesson is taken. If you decide to leave the school then any unused credits will be refunded.
  4. You are required to bring your appointment pack with you on every lesson.
  5. Your appointment card is your receipt for block lessons. Please do not lose this. Payments for Block lessons are held for 6 months then they’ll be forfeited.
  6. We reserve the right to refuse the use of the instructor’s car for practical tests if the instructor feels that you have not reached a satisfactory standard.
  7. The minimum cost for the car for a practical test is 3 hours, this includes pick up from home, pre test drive and arrival at test centre 10 minutes before test time, the practical driving test, debrief and drive home. This does not include the DVSA test fee which is paid at the time of booking.
  8. It is not the responsibility of the instructor or school to remind or inform you when your theory/practical tests are, or to check that all your documents are in order for these tests.
  9. You are responsible for the instructor’s car while you are taking your practical driving test (not the examiner). In the unlikely event of a road traffic accident you will be liable for any insurance excess due.
  10. Credit is not offered and all lessons must be paid in full either at the time of taking or prior to your lesson.
  11. There is a £30 charge for any returned unpaid cheques.
  12. Any debts will be referred to an official debt collection agency who will recover any losses to the school and any additional charges incurred.
  13. We reserve the right to change the car at any time.
  14. Whilst every care is taken to ensure that pupils receive tuition at the scheduled time and in the car booked, all appointments are made on the understanding that the school accepts no responsibility for the postponement of lessons and practical tests due to mechanical breakdowns/instructor illness or any other reason beyond our control. However, every effort will be made to find a replacement car/instructor to cover this. If not, a fresh appointment will be made at the earliest convenience. We are not responsible for driving test appointments postponed by the DVSA.
  15. If you change your pick up or drop off point without 48 hours’ notice you may not be able to receive the full lesson time. Should this occur you will still be liable to pay for the full lesson.
  16. If you are late for your lesson the lesson will end at the same arranged time. Missed time cannot be reallocated, nor can the price be reduced. If, however the instructors late the full hour will be given or time added to a future lesson.
  17. It is under the instructor’s discretion whether to allow friends or family in the back of vehicle on lessons.
  18. It is your responsibility to make sure you do not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs while on a lesson. Please check labelling of any medicines.
  19. Any items left in the car are not the responsibility of the school or instructor.
  20. On the occasional lesson there may be other instructors or DVSA officials observing the lesson. this is necessary for quality and assessment purposes.
  21. Johnson School of Motoring reserves the right to change, modify or add to these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.
